How To Keep Youngsters Out Of Trouble

Youngsters have lots of energy and curiosity which when used in fun activities gives them a higher chance of growing up into happier people. Sports and being outdoors are central to their health and happiness so these should be made possible frequently. Team sports are great, as are gymnastics for development, camaraderie and staying out of trouble.

The downside of these activities is they normally need to be scheduled so are not available at a whim. However cycling is something your youngster can do almost anytime, weather permitting. There must be a big percentage of us “twenty one again” year olds who owned a Raleigh bike at some stage in our youth.

Owning Raleigh bikes in those days was akin with having attained a fair degree of freedom. Our bikes had opened up a whole world of innocent adventures and new places where we could go, all in the fresh air and with our mates, those were the days. Nowadays some youngsters have computers instead of innocent fun adventures in the fresh air. One of the cult bikes from the 1970s, the Chopper, made a comeback 21 years later due to a change in the bike market and an increased demand for retro products in general. Yet whatever choice you make for your youngsters the main idea is to give them this coming of age symbol; their first bike.

The National Children’s Bureau has published a comprehensive document on Cycling and Children and Young People. It states that cycling has four main attractions for children while at the same time it evaluates it as being quite safe under the right circumstances. You need to choose good products with starter bikes for girls such as the Raleigh Molly and for boys the Raleigh Ollie. Raleigh childrens bikes are trusted for their safety and designed to be exciting for your youngsters at the same time.

The four main attractions are that it is great fun, with a combination of difficulty, speed and self directness. Secondly it greatly expands the territory over which the child can get around. Trips that seemed to far or too boring to go on foot now become possible. Thirdly cycling is often a sociable activity where your child can meet and travel with their friends. The fourth attraction is the fact that like walking, cycling gives the opportunity for close interaction between the people.

Children who go cycling have the opportunity to see the world differently. There are all sorts of possibilities out there to whet your child’s appetite for novelty. Many children find cycling to be playful and exploratory whereas us adults use it for exercise or getting from a to b.

On top of that the government actually encourage cycling for children. They support the development and promotion of cycling for children and younger people almost unconditionally. This position reflects the consensus amongst leading health, safety and transport agencies regarding the benefits of cycling for all age groups, but youngsters in particular.
